Nature, history and good food – during this Arctic evening, we will give you a great combination of the best aspects of Longyearbyen. We will take you on an off-road hike over the Arctic tundra in the Advent valley and explore the nature surrounding us. Later on, we will serve you a two-course dinner in our “explorers club” and tell you stories and legends about famous Arctic explorers.

Hiking Isfjord Spitsbergen

Our guide will pick you up at your hotel and drive outside of Longyearbyen. From here it will be an easy off-road hike, for about 4km along the shores of Longyearbyen’s fresh water pond. We will follow the old cableway – a relic of Longyearbyen’s mining days. It was used to transport coal from the mines directly to the harbour. If we are lucky we might spot some Svalbard reindeers, too. Since they have no natural predators on Svalbard, they are not very afraid of humans. If you join this trip in summer, we can enjoy the midnight sun facing us as we head back towards Longyearbyen. In autumn, the magical colours of the sunset will highlight the features of surrounding mountains. In late autumn, we might even see some Northerns Lights as we hike through the twilight towards town.

Just outside of Longyearbyen, we will reach our private “explorers club”, filled with legends and stories of the polar explorers. This unique venue is the perfect setting for an explorer’s dinner. Famous adventurers such as Roald Amundson, Fritjof Nansen or Umberto Nobile join us when we enjoy a delicious two-course dinner. The menu is the same as the famous polar chef, Adolf Henrik Lindstrøm served on his Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. During the dessert our guide will tell you more about these heroes and their expeditions. After an adventurous evening we will drop you off at your hotel.

We require a minimum of 2 persons on this trip.
