Join our Summer Adventure to experience a great combination of hiking and snowmobiling. On this trip, you will get the opportunity to enjoy beautiful views around Longyearbyen and of an island slowly awaking from hibernation.

We will start our adventure with a briefing at our Explorers’ club to get you ready for the trip. After that we will drive up to our starting point Nybyen, with a one hour hike up to the Longyear glacier.  It gets adventurous when we have to cross and jump over some small streams. Further, the hike is not very hard but the terrain is quite rocky. When we arrive up on the glacier, you will get an introduction to snowmobile driving.

After driving 4 km up on the glacier, we will reach the pass (600 meters above sea level). From the top, we will have a stunning view over Longyearbyen and the valley, Fardalen. Fardalen is surrounded with snow-covered mountains and is known as the “playground” for all local snowmobile drivers. While enjoying the view from the pass, we will have a nice lunch and warm drinks.

It takes about 30 minutes of driving to get back down from the glacier and ready to walk down into millennia old moraine areas. If the ground is snow-free and if you are lucky you can find a fossil or two.

We recommend wearing warm and windproof clothes. If you don’t have high mountain boots, you are welcome to borrow snowmobile boots from us.
