🥾 Hike to the Glacier
We begin at our Explorers’ Club with a short briefing before heading to Nybyen. From there, a one-hour hike takes us up toward the glacier, crossing small streams and rocky ground. The climb is steady and rewarding, offering stunning views as we gain elevation.
🏔 Snowmobiling Across the Ice
Once on the glacier, you’ll receive a snowmobile introduction and ride approximately 4 km across the ice to a mountain pass at 600 meters above sea level. From this breathtaking vantage point, we take in panoramic views of Longyearbyen and Fardalen valley – a favorite “playground” for local snowmobilers.
🧭 Glacial Moraine & Fossil Hunting
After a relaxing lunch and warm drink surrounded by pristine silence, we descend the glacier by snowmobile and explore the moraine zone on foot. These ancient, ice-shaped landscapes sometimes reveal fossils – if snow-free and you’re lucky, you might spot one.
