One of nature’s great eventsThe bird jumping in Trygghamna

We provide a unique opportunity to witness one of Svalbard’s most significant bird events during the Arctic summer – The bird jumping. For just a brief period in July, the chicks take their inaugural flight from the colossal bird cliff Alkhornet, and we’ll be present to witness their wings unfold for the very first time.

In late July, the Brunnich Guillemot chicks are prepared to make their inaugural flight. Assisted by their parents, the chicks will “jump” from their nests along the cliff’s edge. This event attracts various predators aiming to secure a meal for the upcoming winter season. Positioned right in front of the bird cliffs, we will intimately observe the struggle for survival in the Arctic.

Following a ride in our enclosed and comfortable RIB boat, we will disembark on the Trygghamna beach. An effortless hike awaits, leading us to the base of Alkhornet mountain, where we’ll seek out an ideal location for immersive birdwatching. This day trip caters not only to avid birdwatchers but also to wildlife enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates breathtaking nature up close. Our emphasis will be on photography and providing optimal vantage points. Additionally, we’ll offer food and drinks during the excursion.
