Catching the lightBlue light with dinner

In the spring, traversing Svalbard’s landscape is a truly magical experience. The changing light magically turns the pristine white snow into soft hues of blue and pink, delicately illuminating the mountains that have been cloaked in darkness since November.

The timeframe between the Polar night and the Midnight sun holds a unique charm. The landscape is adorned with incredible colors reflecting on the snow-covered terrain. Witness breathtaking sunsets followed by the enchanting blue light. To ensure an unforgettable experience, we venture out in the evening on snowmobiles, exploring the valleys around Longyearbyen and culminating the adventure with a cozy dinner.

One of our stops includes a viewpoint on the slopes of Hiorthfjellet, offering a breathtaking panorama of the expansive Isfjord and the nestled town of Longyearbyen, cradled between imposing mountain cliffs.

Nestled in a hidden valley, our cozy cabin becomes the setting for our dinner, enjoyed around a fireplace, providing warmth and an undisturbed atmosphere. A hearty three-course meal awaits, accompanied by the quietude of the surroundings.

Post-dinner, our adventure continues into Adventdalen. Guided by the expertise of our guide, the route for the day unfolds, aiming to immerse ourselves in the Arctic nature and savor the enchanting blue light. Additionally, there’s a good chance of spotting reindeer foraging beneath the snow.

“Their experience and knowledge gives you such a level of confidence that you want to explore more; to press on and reach out to your environment rather than be afraid of it. And that to me is a mark of a truly professional guide.”
